Safeguarding
Margate Pride is committed to creating spaces that are joyful, inclusive and safe for everyone.
We work with a wide range of people including children, young people, adults at risk, volunteers, artists, freelancers and community participants. We recognise that many members of LGBTQ+ communities experience increased vulnerability due to discrimination, marginalisation and structural inequalities, and safeguarding is central to how we work.
Safeguarding at Margate Pride means both preventing harm and actively creating environments where people feel safe, respected and empowered. We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, harassment, exploitation or discrimination within our events, programmes and partnerships.
All staff, volunteers, contractors and artists working with Margate Pride are required to follow our safeguarding procedures and code of conduct. We carry out risk assessments for our activities, provide safeguarding training where appropriate and ensure there are clear ways for concerns to be reported.
