Margate Pride is an arts-and-culture-led Pride that harnesses its creative skills to address root causes of discrimination towards the LGBTQIA+ community as stated in its mission. Margate Pride envisions a world where all LGBTQIA+ people live safely, joyfully and openly as their whole selves in the communities we call home. To help us achieve our vision, Margate Pride holds an annual Festival that includes a rally, parade and events. Pride Day is always the second Saturday of August. Year-round activity is also programmed to deliver on its mission.

Job Purpose:
The Operations Manager at Margate Pride is a vital role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational aspects of the organisation. This includes supporting the smooth execution of events and activities by managing contracts and invoices with suppliers, venues and artists; managing administrative tasks; rolling out evaluation and writing reports for funders with the team, and supporting the team in various operational capacities working closely with the Director of Arts & Development.


Key Responsibilities and Duties
Project Management: Support the management of the overall strategy alongside the Directors and Community Engagement Manager.
Support the administrative aspects of Margate Pride events and projects.
Coordinate with different teams to ensure successful activity delivery.


Administrative Oversight:
Handle administrative tasks, including invoice processing, record keeping, contracts with suppliers, venues and artists, and report preparation.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.


Budget and Finance Management:
Assist in budget preparation and monitoring expenses.
Oversee financial transactions and ensure timely payments of invoices.

Team Support and Coordination:
Provide support to various teams in planning and executing their tasks.
Facilitate communication and coordination among different teams.
Use project management software to track actions and delivery.


Evaluation and Reporting:
Work with Producers to conduct evaluations of activities and projects to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare and present reports on operational activities, challenges, and achievements with the Directors.


Strategic Planning Support:
Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies.
Participate in long-term planning and forecasting activities.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:

● Proven experience in operations management, arts management, or a related field.
● Familiarity with project management tools and software.
● Proficient working with Google Drive.
● Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Proficiency in financial and administrative management.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively.


Desirable Skills:

● Knowledge of the LGBTQIA+ community and commitment to Margate Pride’s mission and values.
● Experience in working with non-profit organisations or in the arts and culture sector.
● Being able to attend meetings in Margate.

Community Engagement Manager 2024

Margate Pride is looking for a creative and experienced individual able to work independently on tasks, guided by the Directors.

Job Purpose:
The Community Engagement Manager at Margate Pride is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage diverse community groups, particularly within the LGBTQIA+ community. This role involves planning and executing community outreach initiatives, fostering relationships with local groups, and ensuring inclusive participation in
Margate Pride activity.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

Community Engagement and Outreach:
Develop and implement engagement strategies to increase community participation in Margate Pride events and initiatives.
Build and maintain relationships with community groups, local organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.


Event and Project Coordination:

Plan and coordinate community-focused events and projects.
Work closely with volunteers, Producers and staff to ensure successful and inclusive event execution.


Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy:

Ensure that Margate Pride’s events and initiatives are inclusive and representative of the diverse LGBTQIA+ community.
Advocate for the interests and needs of underrepresented groups within the community.


Collaboration and Partnership Development:

Collaborate with other team members to align community engagement activities with the overall goals of Margate Pride.
Alongside the Director of Community and programming, develop partnerships and build relationships with local schools, youth groups, older residents and other community organisations.
Maintain a directory of engagement and community contacts.


Evaluation and Reporting:

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives, working with the Operations Manager.
Contribute to the preparation of reports and recommendations to improve future outreach and engagement efforts.
Work closely with the Directors to secure funding for engagement activities.

*Some evening and weekend work may be required.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:

● Experience in community engagement, outreach, or a related field.
● Strong understanding of and commitment to LGBTQIA+ issues and inclusivity.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
● Proven ability to plan, organise, and execute events and projects.
● Knowledge of the local community in and around Thanet.
● Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
● Proficient in basic computer skills and able to work with Google drive.


Desirable Skills:

● Access to own transport or driving licence.
● Experience working with volunteers..

Job Purpose:

The Marketing Assistant at Margate Pride plays a critical role in supporting the marketing and communication efforts of the organisation. This role involves executing marketing strategies, managing social media, and helping to promote the Margate Pride events and initiatives and the queer listings platform.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

Social Media and Digital Marketing: Assist in managing and updating Margate Pride’s social media accounts.
Create engaging and relevant content, including posts, graphics, and videos.
Monitor social media channels for audience engagement and respond to queries and comments.


Marketing Strategy Implementation:

Support the execution of the marketing strategy developed by the Marketing Consultant. Assist in planning and implementing marketing campaigns and promotions.
Content Creation and Management: Develop content for various platforms, including the website, social media, and email newsletters.
Ensure content aligns with Margate Pride’s brand voice and mission.
Event Promotion: Assist in promoting Margate Pride events, including digital advertising, community outreach, and distribution of promotional materials.
Coordinate with the events team to ensure accurate and timely promotion of all activities.
Analytics and Reporting: Track the performance of marketing campaigns and social media activity. Provide reports and insights to the marketing team and directors.
Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with other team members and volunteers to ensure a cohesive approach to marketing and communications.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to marketing discussions and planning.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:

● Experience or strong interest in marketing, communications, or a related field.
● Good understanding and proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing
tools.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to create visually appealing content.
● Organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
● Experience in email marketing (e.g. MailChimp), writing content and building emails.
● Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
● Knowledge of the LGBTQIA+ community and sensitivity to its intersections.


Desirable Skills:

● Creativity and ability to generate innovative ideas.
